Michigan State University Extension is offering several opportunities for you to expand your lake and stream knowledge and skills in 2017. See below for two upcoming programs, and follow the links for more details.

2017 Lake and Stream Leaders Institute (http://bit.ly/MSU-LSLI): Become an effective steward of water resources in Michigan. Classroom and field sessions will improve your understanding of lake and river ecology and management, and develop your communication and leadership skills. Learn from experts in academia, natural resource agencies, and local communities and organizations; practice your new skills; and complete an applied project of your choosing to share with your peers at the final session. Co-sponsored by Michigan Lake & Stream Associations. Applications due March 30.
When/Where: 3 sessions – June 2-3, Kettunen Center near Cadillac; Aug. 18-19, Kellogg Biological Station near Kalamazoo; Oct. 6, MSU.
Cost: $400; scholarships available.

Conflict, Collaboration, and Consensus in Natural Resource Issues: Gain confidence and competence in helping groups and communities productively address contentious natural resource issues. Appropriate for professionals and engaged volunteers. Registration deadline is March 3.
When/Where: 2 sessions at the Kettunen Center near Cadillac – March 23-24 and April 13-14.
Cost: $495
