The MRWA has conducted and participated in cleanups in almost every Muskegon River Watershed county. Trash can pollute our waterways and entrap wildlife. Some cleanups follow the International Coastal Cleanup guidelines and participants not only collect the trash but count and record every piece.
In 2010, the MRWA sponsored cleanups on Cedar Creek in Holton, Muskegon County (picture 1), Muskegon River from Mill Iron Road Access, Muskegon County (middle picture), and Muskegon River and Mitchell Creek in Big Rapids, Mecosta County (far right picture).
In 2011, the MRWA sponsored a cleanup in the Big Rapids area along the Muskegon River. Ferris students completed the work.
In 2012, the MRWA again sponsored a cleanup in the Big Rapids area along the Muskegon River. Ferris students completed the work.
In 2013, the MRWA sponsored a cleanup in the Big Rapids area along the Muskegon River in September. Ferris students completed the work. The MRWA provided mesh cleanup bags to Bridgeton Township to assist them in their cleanup from Bridgeton to Maple Island Landing in July. The MRWA provided some funding to volunteers who conducted a cleanup from Milliron Road in Muskegon County in August.
