My Story: Muskegon River Watershed Assembly Collaboration & Growth
By Jonathan Wilson, DTE Regional Manager
Director, MRWA
I joined the Muskegon River Watershed Assembly Board of Directors in 2016 because I felt, and still feel, that the Muskegon River is a huge economic asset, and I strongly connected to MRWA’s mission of preserving, protecting, restoring and promoting the sustainable use of the river. Because the watershed encompasses several surrounding counties, I felt that my role on the board would create stronger partnerships and regional collaboration opportunities.
As a Regional Manager with DTE Energy, my role on the MRWA Board of Directors gives me the opportunity to fulfill our corporate mission of being a force for good in the communities we serve, which includes doing the right thing for the environment and our communities to encourage economic progress. Creating a cleaner, healthier environment where we can all live and thrive is one of DTE’s top priorities, and while we work to make our environmental footprint cleaner and more sustainable, we also partner with nonprofits like the Muskegon River Watershed Assembly to improve the natural beauty that can be found all around us. We especially focus on environmental and community initiatives, to ensure we’re responsibly investing our time and resources to create long-term value. More information about DTE’s environmental stewardship efforts can be found at https://empoweringmichigan.com/dte-impact/planet/.
MRWA’s educational programming and conservation initiatives continue to positively impact the Muskegon River by driving the sustainable use of the river and helping to make the region a better place to live work and play. I am very proud of DTE’s partnership with the Muskegon River Watershed Assembly and honored to serve on the board of directors for such a prestigious organization.
